WebC#'s null literally means "pointing at address zero, which is never used by anything because it represents an unused memory address". SQL's NULL is "unknown value". So when SQL returns a NULL value to C# code, it's not accurate to represent it as a null address. So System.DbNull exists to represent a SQL NULL value, instead of C#'s null reference . WebYou can't set value types to null (since null is used for reference types only). That being said you can use the built in Nullable class which wraps value types such that you can set them to null, check if it HasValue and get its actual Value. (Those are both methods on the Nullable objects.
