It was about a metre long, and ran on two legs, using its long tail to keep its balance. WebJohn Ostrom thoroughly described the German specimen, as well as the recently discovered French sample in the year 1978. which made Compsognathus one the most famous tiny theropods of the time. The more substantial French sample (MNHN CNJ 79) was found in 1971, in Portlandian limestone lithographic of Canjuers close to Nice.
