In post-transplant patients, CMV or HHV-6 infection can cause bone marrow hypoplasia. Chronic hepatitis B and C infection can result in the presence of reactive lymphoid aggregates. WebBone marrow and peripheral blood showed no signs of lymphoma relapse or myelodysplastic syndrome, but both revealed prominent hemophagocytosis (Fig. S1). Additional examinations revealed increased plasma levels of soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL2R) and of the macrophage marker soluble CD163 (sCD163) (Fig. 2).
